Introduction

Materials
- Crochet hook size J/6 mm
- 40 yards of Lion's Brand WoolSpun in Linen (or any bulky yarn - category 5)
- Yarn needle
- Scissors
Crochet Abbreviations
- Ch = chain
- Sc = single crochet
- St = stitch
Finished Size
Written for a teen to young adult (fits a 20-22″ circumference when finished) and has a 4″ height, but can easily be customized for any size by subtracting or adding stitches in an even number.
Gauge
1 inch for every 1 modified puff stitch & 1 SC
Notes
- The CH 1 of each round does not count as a stitch.
- The SL ST does not count as a stitch.
The Pattern Steps
Round 1:
CH 40, join together to make a circle, being careful not to twist.
Round 2:
CH 1, SC in 2nd CH from hook, YO insert hook into next CH, pull loop through CH, and make loop the same height as previous CH. *(YO, insert hook in same CH, YO, pull loop through CH and make loop same height as others), YO, pull through all 5 loops on hook, in next CH SC, repeat from * across ending with modified puff stitch in last CH, SL ST to top of first SC. Round 3:
CH 1, SC in every ST around, SL ST to top of first SC. (40)
Round 4:
CH 1, SC in first ST, *(modified puff stitch) YO, insert hook into next ST pull loop through ST, and make loop the same height as previous ST. (YO, insert hook in same ST, YO, pull loop through ST and make loop same height as others), YO, pull through all 5 loops on hook, in next ST SC, repeat from * across ending with modified puff stitch in last ST, SL ST to top of first SC. Round 5-10:
Repeat rounds 3 and 4 alternately until you reach the desired length.
Finishing:
Fasten off and weave in ends throughout headband with a yarn needle.
